Orchidee spontanee nei vigneti Torelli a Bubbio

Gianfranco Torelli produces organic wine from about twenty-seven years in the Langa Astigiana, with his father Mario.
First of all this represents his love for nature, for the territory, for its history. And obviously the love to work in the vineyard and for the good things of the earth. Because it is not enough to use organic grapes to make good wine. It needs passion and skill.

The vineyards are treated with every attention. They grow in full biodiversity. A vineyard in Langa Astigiana offers beautiful views and suggestions throughout the year, even in the winter, in the rarefied scenery of the fog or in the brightness of the snow, making even more enjoyable find the warmth of the home and the taste of products. But for those lucky enough to visit the vineyards Torelli in May there is the extraordinary gift to see spring blooms, not only on the lands next to the vineyard but right in between the rows of vines.
This is a true living world, full of aromas and flavors. Flowers, plants, insects, birds, thanks to the inclusion of the nesting boxes placed by Lipu in this area, show us a colorful world that lives around the vineyards, protected by natural methods, such as mustard plants between the rows of vines, or the birds that are much better than any insecticide and natural indicator as the beautiful roses at the entrance of the vineyards.

In such an environment, nature takes its course and gives us beautiful pearls: in the vineyards Torelli bloom some of the most beautiful orchids of Piedmont. A magic that happens every spring, and certify, by the witness of nature, that here organic is not fashion but it’s simply the life of the word.

Bubbio and the Langa

Mario Torelli farm is situated on the San Grato hill, on top of which there is a beautiful, octagonal chapel of the same name, built in 1888 on the ruins of a Romanic building.
The Bubbio area, located in the Langa Astigiana area, is a magnificent compendium of hills where the cultivation of vines is an integral part of a thousand year old identity that has its roots in spirituality, arts, landscapes and nature.
The Roman wine amphora, present in the Bubbio coat of arms, testifies to the thermal spa traditions going back to Imperial Rome in nearby Acqui Terme along with the cultivation of vines and production of wine.
The sum of all these values determines this area, the beauty of which is such that it has been included by Unesco in the World Heritage Site of Langa.

The farm

The origins of the farm are linked to the historical events of the second half of the 19th century in Piedmont with the gradual transformation towards the small, farmer owned property.

The Torelli farm business began with the purchase of two farms in Bubbio by Gianfranco’s two great-grandfathers – Luigi Torelli (known as ‘Luis ed Torè), paternal great-grandfather. and Cresta Giuseppe (known as ‘Pinen d’la Milan-a’), maternal great-grandfather – who managed to realise their dream of becoming land owners.

The history of the farm, more then centennial, has reinforced the family’s belief in the potential of this land – if treated with love and respect – to be  reflected  in the excellent characteristics of their wine. In 1987 Gianfranco, along with his parents Mario and Marisa, decided to cultivate vines organically, seeing it as the best way to maintain the ideals of their family ancestors.
Today, our family run business is present in the best restaurants and wine shops world wine with a production of over 80,000 bottles.
